First Annual Family Back-2-School Day
Huge Success
Life Assistance Ministries hosted
the First Annual Family Back-2-School Day on Saturday,
August 22, 2009 at Saint Katharine Drexel Parish Hall in
Hempstead. People arrived more than two hours before the
doors opened to participate. Over 175 families
attended. 71
children received immunizations from Trinity Wellness
Center; and 160 families received groceries provided by
Houston Food Bank and Catholic Charities and distributed
by Saint Katharine Drexel House of Help. Over 75 children
received school supplies provided by the generosity of our
sponsors.
The objective of the day was to showcase
available services and resources available in our community for
families. Exhibitors
included: American
Red Cross, Angel Food Ministries (Greater Saint Peter's
Church), Catholic Charities, Colorado Valley Transit, ESL/SSL
Classes (Saint Katharine Drexel), Family Ties, Hempstead Fire
